Product of the Month ~ Pawganics Safer cleaning products for MUCH healthier pets |
Each month we'll feature a different Best Bites product. For more information see the article below or contact us at bestbitesforpets@bellsouth.net. The late Flash Bell (RIP, best buddy), experienced awful "red belly" and sores around his mouth until we got rid of every cleaning product that came from the grocery store. His problems cleared up immediately once we started using Pawganics and cut out all synthetic-chemical based products. We never had those problems again for the next 13 years of his life! |

OK, so you know how much I believe in Best Bites' products. Let me tell you, my Pawganics representative puts me to shame! Do you wonder how much safer a cleaning product can possible be? Well, this is from his email to me ... "In fact, our products are so safe that you can drink them. Although, having drunk them myself, I can tell you they’re designed to clean/sanitize effectively, not taste good." Can you tell me you'd even consider, for one second, drinking any of the cleaning products under your sink? Did you know you can actually get Material Safety Data Sheets on most of those? Yes, the same ones we use on my HAZMAT truck at Asheville Fire Department! That's not what I want coating my pets! Think about it -- when you spray any kind of cleaner, a lot of the mist falls to the floor. The floor belongs to your pets! They walk on it, roll around on it. It gets on their feet and bellies, which they thin lick. Whether they absorb it through their skin or ingest it while licking, your pets get a MUCH higher dose of whatever you choose to clean with than you think. And I've seen the results of switching in many cases, including with my own Flash before I saw the light. (see caption above). And why does that matter, you ask? Many of you read Dr. Fox, D.V.M.'s column in the Sunday papers -- this comes from a May 23, 2010 letter: "Cats pick up potentially harmful chemicals from those in laundered sheets, household and furniture cleaners, flame-retardant treated carpets and room-diffused and sprayed fragrances. ... The FDA is in lock step with big business when it comes to many products, so it's not much help. But we can help our animal companions and ourselves by becoming chemically conscious. Unfortunately, one must often become chemically sensitized before waking up to these health hazards. It is notable that some cleaners do not say what chemicals they are impregnated with. ... Avoid all products that contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds), because cats may be especially prone to develop adverse reactions, as they lack certain liver enzymes to help detoxify such environmental contaminants." He was answering a cat owner but I promise the same holds true for dogs. Google "side effects of household cleaners on pets" and you'll get an eyeful. Please don't ignore this important part of healing your pet! You all pay so much attention to their food, don't ignore what they roll around in all day!
